The field experiment ran for 46 weekdays in autumn 2016 at a Stanford University cafeteria. Each day, researchers randomly assigned one of four label styles to a featured vegetable without changing how the dish was prepared or served.
Two outcomes the researchers measured
Compared with basic labels, indulgent labels increased the number choosing the vegetable by 25% and the mass taken from the serving bowl by 23%.

What the experiment supports
For the same dishes, label style changed both selection and the mass diners took.
Researchers found differences between indulgent and basic labels. The basic, healthy-positive, and healthy-restrictive conditions did not differ significantly from one another on either outcome.
What the experiment did not measure
The 23% figure is not a 23% increase in food eaten.
Researchers weighed the total mass diners removed from the serving bowl. They did not measure individual intake, plate waste, enjoyment, or perceived taste. Results from one university cafeteria may not generalize to homes, other cultures, or priced menu choices.
