The survey measured vegetable intake among people ages 20 and older. The 256 g figure is the mean across participants, while 350 g is a public-health target for the population mean. The difference does not mean that every adult personally ate 94 g too little.
Population mean measured in grams per adult per day
The 2023 mean was 256 g per day; the policy target is 350 g.

Why a photo cannot confirm 350 g
Cooking method, density, and hidden ingredients change how the same weight looks.
Leafy vegetables lose volume when cooked, while dense root vegetables can weigh more than their size suggests. A photograph also cannot reveal the exact depth of a bowl or the weight of vegetables mixed into curry, soup, or a stir-fry.
One vegetable dish is only a rough visual unit. Five dishes do not automatically equal 350 g, and a photo-based estimate does not replace weighing.
A three-day observation
Count opportunities for vegetables before trying to estimate grams.
For three days, review breakfast, lunch, and dinner and mark where a vegetable-centered dish appeared. Include vegetables inside soup or a mixed dish when you can identify them; do not count a garnish as a full dish.
Then choose one repeatable opportunity: add a vegetable side at lunch, put vegetables into one regular soup, or keep a convenient frozen option available. This check will not prove that you reached 350 g, but it can identify a meal where change is practical.
How MorselFlow fits
MorselFlow can support the three-day observation, not verify 350 g.
MorselFlow suggests multiple foods from a meal photo. Review the suggestions before saving so vegetable dishes and mixed dishes are represented accurately.
The timeline can help you check when vegetable dishes appeared. MorselFlow cannot confirm the exact vegetable weight or whether you met a personal dietary need.
